This week, in a tribute to the dearly departed rock organ legend Jon Lord, we played the entirety of  Deep Purple's all-time classic rock LP 'In Rock' from 1970.  We then explored a range of the music he released before and after his glory days with Purple.  He was a rock and roll sonic architect, and his signature hammond growl spawned a thousand bands and a host of wonderful records...  RIP.

Here he is in 1973 in New York playing one of a million crazy solos.  Thanks for Everything, Jon!

You will note an unmistakable theme to much of this week's show, as we celebrate Independence Day (the holiday, not the shitty movie).  And what better way to celebrate than with some beefy, all-American boogie rock from Jo Jo Gunne!  We played the whole of their self-titled debut LP from 1972, celebrating it's 40th anniversary!

There's no contemporary live footage of Jo Jo Gunne online, so here's some super rare footage of John and Yoko and the Mothers live at the Fillmore East in 1971:
