Stonehenge Playlist 12-27-2013

Our final Classic Rock Album of 2013 was the incredible lp by the supergroup "Go" led by the Japanese keyboardist and percussionist  Stomu Yamashta . Also on the lp were Steve Winwood (Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith and Traffic), Al Di Meola (Return to Forever), Michael Shrieve (Santana) and Klaus Schulz (Tangerine Dream and Ash Ra Temple).  Go was released in April of 1976.

This weeks classic rock album of the week was The Seeds - The Seeds.  An absolute classic in every sense of the word - released in April of 1966.  Their single "Pushin too hard" was originally released in 1965 and then re-released in October of 1966.  Lead singer Sky Saxon and keyboardist Daryl Hooper were the driving influences in the band along with Jan Savage on guitar and Rick Andridge on drums.

Tonights classic rock album of the week was the self titled debut lp by Osibisa.  Osibisa were formed in 1969 by Teddy Osei from Ghana along with 3 others from Ghana and 3 caribbean musicians.  Their sound was a mix of african and caribbean jazz, rock, latin and R&B.  We played it this week in tribute to the late great Nelson Mandela.  Their first lp features a classic Roger Dean cover:
