No Classic Rock Album this week due to baseball being broadcast. I hate baseball. However, what we did have time for was a face-blast of seriously classic underground rock music! Here's Junior Hanson with one of the standout jams of the show that night, taken from the Hanson LP 'Now Hear This', released on Manticore in 1973 (and featuring Keith Emerson's Moog, kindly loaned to the band in the studio!).

A delicious full-length show this week, kicked off in style with the fine sounds of the Charlatans self-titled debut LP from 1969. These guys are said to be the first group to ever perform live on acid, back in 1965, which may go some way to explain why it took them so long to release an album! Sorely overlooked at the time, the group sounds great today:

This weeks Classic Rock Album (which kicks off the show each week) played in it's entirety was the wonderful 'Santana III' from 1971. This was the last Santana LP to go to #1 in the USA until Supernatural in 1999! It's also the first LP to feature Neal Schon on guitar, who was just 17 at the time. Of course, he later left Santana (along with keyboardist Gregg Rolie) to form 'Journey' and subject the world to a million bad karaoke versions of 'Don't Stop Believing' as a consequence.

Let's enjoy some great footage of the band live in 1971, playing 'Jungle Strut' from the LP.
