Stonehenge Setlist 1/19/18

Tonights Classic Rock Album is the second lp by Queen --- Queen II.  It was released on March 8, 1974.  Instead of the conventional side A and Side B or 1 and 2, they had a Side White and a Side Black.  The album cover was shot by the great British photographer Mick Rock, who also shot most of the great David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust photos.  Queen II went to number 5 on the UK album chart.  Bottom line - this is another classic lp by Queen.

This Weeks Classic Rock album was the first LP by the band - Darryl Way's Wolf - Canis Lupus.  Darryl was one of the founding members of the British progressive band, Curved Air.  He was an outstanding violinist and keyboardist as Curved Air was one of the first to feature a violinist.  Canis Lupus was released in 1973.

Stonehenge Setlist 1/5/2018

Tonights Classic Rock LP was the 2nd studio lp by the Canadian band Rush -- Fly by Night.  Fly by Night was released in February of 1975.  This was also the first lp for new band mate Neil Peart - lyricist and drummer.  If you still play your copy on a manual turn table - the chimes heard at the end of "By Tor & the Snow Dog" continue into the locked groove and will play indefinitely much like the "Turn me Over" piece we play every time we flip over our Classic Rock Lps.  We of course play the "Turn me Over" spoken phrase from the James Gang first LP - Yer' Album.  How's that for some Stonehenge trivia.

Tonghts Classic Rock album -- Blue Cheer - Blue Cheer.  This was their 4th lp and it was released in December of 1969.  By this lp, only Dickie Peterson remained from the original lineup.  Along with Dickie the lp featured guitarist Bruce Stephens, Ralph Burns Kellogg on keyboards and Norman Mayell on drums.  Definitely a little more laid back approach but these guys still knew how to rock.

We changed things up a bit on Stonehenge tonight.  We played one LP from the David Bowie box set -- Bowie at the Beeb.  This four lp collection spans David Bowie's second ever BBC session in 1968 through to May 1972. Stay tuned for the other lps in the months to come.  Also we spun a couple of Christmas tunes in our show tonight.
