The Classic Rock Album this week was the magnificent and seminal progressive rock album from Yes - the Yes Album (1971). Their first LP with Steve Howe on guitar, this album saw the Yes sound fully-formed. It's one of their finest albums, and contains many of their most beloved songs. We had a blast listening to it again!

From later that year, here's the first part of the BBC 'Sounding Out' documentary on Yes. You'll notice that Kaye is out of the keyboard stool and Wakeman is in (without a stool, incidentally) solidifying the line up of what, for many, is 'Classic Yes'.

Here's the rest of the Show. Some great requests this week, I recall. Keep them coming, throughout the week to stonehenge@wrek.org or during the broadcast of the show, by calling us at 404-894-2468.

This weeks classic rock album began the show in fine style: The Yardbirds -- Roger the Engineer. We played the US reissue on Epic from 1983, as it neatly compiles all of the different tracks from the US and UK releases from the Summer of 1966. '66? Yes, these boys were way ahead of their time. The Reissue also throws in the single 'Happenings Ten Years Time Ago' and it's B-Side 'Psycho Daisies', which are notable for being one of the earliest (some would say the first) psychedelic singles, and featuring Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page in twin guitar mode! Phew!

Here's some rare footage of the group with Page and Beck (hilariously, Page is playing bass here) from a show in France in 1966 before Beck jumped ship, leading eventually to the spawning of the beast we call Led Zeppelin.

Terry Reid passed up the chance to be lead singer in Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. However, he shouldn't feel like he made the wrong choices in his career, as he received the ultimate accolade this year: 40 years after its release, we played his second LP as a Classic Rock Album on Stonehenge!

Check out this wunderbar live version of 'Rich Kid's Blues' recorded for German TV in '69. It's easily the equal of the LP version.

This show was pre-recorded, in case you were wondering why we weren't answering the phone...

The Classic Album of the Week was the amazing self-titled debut LP from Hawkwind (1970). This LP demonstrates that Dave Brock and his crew were already nearly fully formed as songwriters and psychedelic warriors at the turn of the decade. It's a white hot LP full of para-noise and smoking guitar from Huw Lloyd-Langton, recorded live in the studio and produced by Pretty Things guitarist Dick Taylor.

A dedicated listener of the show, Mr. Ted Cogswell, has kindly taken our running list of the weekly Classic Rock Albums featured on the Show and has converted it to a list on rateyourmusic.com, which means you can now view the full list, album art, track-listings and release details. Thanks Ted!

Our own humble google document is definitely less pretty, but will be updated every Friday, if you want to know what's playing as it happens.

This was Alex Harvey's 9th Studio Album, and his second with the Sensational Band. Let's enjoy their performance of the title track on the Old Grey Whistle Test (courtesy of Auntie Beeb).

This week's classic album was the underground masterwork of England's T2, a killer 3 piece featuring members of Gun, Please, Bulldog Breed and Neon Pearl. The LP, entitled 'It'll All Work Out In Boomland' has been sat in the WREK vault for decades waiting for us, so we couldn't resist.

Here's one of the shorter tracks from the LP, entitled J.L.T. I was just discussing this album with local musician extraordinaire James Joyce, who mentioned that the noted musician Jim O'Rourke (lately of Sonic Youth) based almost his entire solo sound on this single song. I can dig it.

Some technical issues at WREK this week left us with just one functioning turntable, so we were forced to take refuge in our CD's. As a result, tonight's show had a few tunes that we haven't played in a while. It's always good to mix it up.

Congratulations to our competition winners this week: To win tickets to see the Scorpions this week, they gave us the correct answer to our question: Which famous German record label released the first Scorpions LP 'Lonesome Crow' in Germany? Answer: Brain Records!

This week's Classic Rock Album kicked off the Show, and it was the first time we've played a Bloodrock LP. We stumped for 'Bloodrock 3', so here's the opening track, 'Jessica':
